You’ve come to the right place. Since 1924, more than 4 million people around the world have become more confident speakers and leaders because of their participation in Toastmasters.

Our club, Toastmasters of La Jolla was founded in 1978 and has been a staple club in the San Diego area ever since.  We’ve earned the President’s Distinguished Club honor in 2007, 2008, and 2011 – this is the highest award a chapter of Toastmasters can achieve.

Membership in Toastmasters in one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself. Come join us for an evening of fun!

Below is a list of the most common questions we get about our club from guests or prospective members. If you have a question that’s not covered here, please contact us and we’ll help you out!

Yes.  Just show up.  Please come a few minutes early so that our Greeter can welcome you and answer any questions you may have.

We welcome you to attend as many meetings as you like.  There are many clubs in San Diego and it is important to choose the right one for you.

TM La Jolla dues are: $78 every 6 months payable in the Spring and Autumn.
This includes our room costs, some expenses and Toastmasters International dues.
When you join as a new member, dues are prorated based on the joining month, with a one-time membership fee of $22.

For more information, come to a meeting and talk with our VP of Membership.

TM La Jolla is an open club.  As such, there are no membership restrictions beyond those set by Toastmasters International. When person applies to be a member, the membership votes on whether to accept that person as a member.
No, guests do not have to speak.  We do, however, have a few opportunities for guests to speak if they want to.
Currently, we meet every Tuesday at the Firehouse YMCA in La Jolla.  More information about meeting locations can be found on our home page.
Our club has about 40 members with 15-25 typically attending meetings.
Our meetings run from 6:30 to 8:15 pm.  We take a ten minute refreshments and socializing break.  We also have a post-toasties social event after most meetings at a local restaurant.
Right now, members can speak at least once a month, if not more often.

Join us for a special IMPROV evening at Toastmasters

6:30pm – 7:45pm – Improv Night hosted by Beth and Jake

all members and guests are invited to participate in fun improvisational games. As we build our improv skills we better our communication, ability to think quickly on our feet, and push our creative buttons in a unique entertaining way.

Are You Afraid To Give A Speech?  We’ll Help You Overcome The Fear!

Simply focus on what you’ve written your speech about and visualize success.

Believe you will deliver the best speech and the applause that will come once you finish.

What’s the worst thing that could happen?  You’re not going to die, you’ll be fine and a better person once you finish.

Another tip, if you are scared: GO FIRST!  Get it out of the way so you don’t sit there agonizing over it.

Feel ready to get in front of people and talk?  Come to our next Toastmaster’s meeting!  Tuesday @ 6:30PM at the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse.  Always free for guests and we won’t push you to try to join if you don’t want to.

Hey We Have a Great Meeting TODAY and YOU SHOULD COME!

The topic is Wealth and is going to be lead by Kevin Espiritu.

The Question of the Day is: What does the word wealth mean to you?  What do you feel would make your life “wealthy”?

Prepared Speeches tonight will be given by:

TOASTMASTERS HITS THE BEACH!

As you are all aware, we are having our meeting at La Jolla Shores next week. Bring your beach chairs. We will meet on the grass at first and set up around a bonfire. The meeting starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.

I have received two volunteers (Jess and Jay) who will bring fire wood and fire starters. I have also received two volunteers to bring refreshments (Kevin and Diana).

I am looking for a volunteer to be at the beach early and grab an open bonfire pit for us. Please e-mail me at evc [at] bsllp . com if you are willing to do this.

Not everybody has the desire or ambition to better themselves like you do.

Just the fact that you looked up Toastmasters says a lot about your personality and drive to want to succeed in the world.  By harnessing your ability to be confident while speaking in front of a group, you will set yourself apart from your peers.

Don’t you want to feel confident in your skin?  To be able to stand in front of people with nothing but comfort and ease and deliver a mind blowing speech?

Come out to our meeting TONIGHT (June 5, 2012) at 6:30PM at the La Jolla Firehouse YMCA.  It’s free for members to come out and check out what our club is about.  If you don’t like it, you are not obligated to pay a cent.  But I know you will like it so might as well give us a shot.  Trust me, we don’t bite.
